- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I had an appointment set up with this lawyer on Friday for a free consultation on a federal case. Today (Wednesday) his Secretary (who seemed to be a nice lady) called to inform me of the $25,000 retainer and kindly asked me if I still wanted to keep my appointment on Friday. Ummm...I guess not!! What is it that prevents lawyers from just saying "I dont want to take your case or give you a consult". I would have understood that better. I dont like the way this was done or how I was treated on the matter. I guess we are not worthy.By Lorraine Walters, June 06, 2017
